Pictures of day 7 of the crisis. Failed return of Zelaya.
Today was a very sad day for Honduras, after Manuel Zelaya insisted in returning to Tegucigalpa thousands of supporters waiting for him outside the airport, but a group of people trying to enter the airport ended up clashing with the millitary and police. One 18 year old kid was shot by a military trying to prevent people to enter the airport.
The jet carrying Zelaya flew over Tegucigalpa a couple of times, but was not allowed to land and returned to Nicaragua.
I took these pictures around 5PM, the demostration was ending and people started to return after a curfew that was suddently announced starting at 6:30PM

As a Canadian who has lived in Honduras 2 to 3 months a year for the past 11 years, I consider Honduras “mi segunda patria”. My wife and I host volunteer Canadian construction teams which assist with building projects for the poor in conjunction with a Honduran Christian Ministry to the poor. I am deeply saddened for Honduras at this time that the world community has not stood behind her. Instead they are standing behind a deposed despotic meglomaniac. In a desire to find out more about Mr. Zelaya I did a search for Manuel Zelaya on Wikipedia. Wow, it sounds like he may be the latest godfather of a wealthy Honduran mafia family.
Yesterday’s spectacle was a prime example of the fact that Zelaya is more interested in his own position and power than he is in the well being of his country or even his own followers. He refused to accept the appeals of leaders of his own Catholic religion not to return at this time for the safety of the country. It did not take being mental giant to know that his stunt would provoke his more rabid followers into a riotous situation that would lead to bloodshed.
May world governments begin to take a second look at what has taken place in the succession of power by the elected Congress of Honduras and accept the government and respect the autonomy tof this sovereign country.
Our prayers are for peace in Honduras and unity and safety of its people and for the many Hondurans we know and love there. May truth and justice and cooler heads prevail. God bless Honduras!!
I agree with your comments Ted, I would like to add that Zelaya also recently had purchased a beautiful !0 million dollar finca up near the Santa Rita area with money that was not his own.
I’m amazed by the actions of the U.S. in this matter, but then , much of the world is going left.
My wife and I pray always that first , Zelaya does not return, and second that the present gov.
will do well and that things will resume normally after the elections. Regards, Bill Sanders
What happened yesterday evening at Toncontin, Tegucigalpa is exactly what Manuel Zelaya wanted, and what we all feared: a fatal consecuence. I believe this is exactly the reason why our Honduran powers fled Zelaya out of the country last Sunday. They knew that if he was kept in the country, blood would be shed.
It is very easy to critizice the way Zelaya was ousted out of the country, but I prefer to think that the people who planned this thought of all possible scenarios and that this was the best for our country. Remember we are dealing with a very complex situation, only one who has lived in the country knows exactly the fear we were living in, and yes thinking of the possibility of immigrating to a safer place.
I believe Zelaya should not come back, at least in the short run. Later he should be taken to court and the law should do what has to be done. But I also believe Zelaya will not give up, besides he is being supported by Chavez and many others so he feels powerful. We Hondurans know how stubborn he can be.
We will continue doing our job as citizens: letting the world know the truth and contine praying for the truth always prevails!

It is sad to see that the only comments you posted are the ones of right wings fanatics whom never mentioned the cause of the poverty in the country nor had mentioned the efforts and acceptance of the poor communities in the cities as well as the indigenous region which are protesting for the fear of going back to the old Army Death Squad which are still active in the armed forces. And also that the coup elements will end the help and aid that the Zelaya government had granted to them.
If CNN respects itself and wants the world to believe this is an unbiased media, it should publish both side of the history
